Veil Removed | Dark Revealed: A Halloween Art Show
October 31, 2015 8:00pm-12:00pm
The final day of October elicits thoughts of costumes, trick-or-treat ultimatums, mischief making, haunted houses, and the singular opportunity for (mostly) respectable adults to shed their public persona to don their alter-ego shadow side costume.
The resident artists at The Union Art Studios and Gallery proudly present works of art in alignment with Halloween and everything the holiday stands for: Urban Legends. Dropped Inhibitions. Devil's Night. Join us for wicked good art, dreadful edibles, haunting music, and blatant revelery amongst mortal creatives.
September 5th, 2015 7:00-10:00
There have been a lot of changes at the studio since our first anniversary. Come on by and check us out. See the artists in their natural habitat. Light snacks, refreshments and air conditioning will be provided. Stay tuned for more details.
Banned From Zen-When Art Meets Angst
July 25th, 2015 7:00-10:00
Zen: A complete state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind in tune with the Universe. Zen is a way of being and a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusions and seeing things without distortion or distraction from chaotic thoughts or emotions. Zen is being “in the moment” and acting with fluid purposefulness.
Every artists has, at some point, engaged in a struggle with their muse, experienced a lack of focus, or an inability to clearly see a path leading them to a successful project. Sometimes, the resulting art successfully reflects the fundamental inherent tension of truth and perception. More often, the art is put in the back of a closet to be forever forgotten.
Somewhere between the uncontrollable need to create and the crippling anxiety of completing and/or revealing the creation, artists can feel Banned from Zen. Join The Union Art Studios and Gallery as we explore a visual narrative confronting our failures, fears, and procrastination by showcasing art that is unfinished, deemed unworthy by the artist, or representational of the Universal Chaos.
